Lovely Austria as Americans might know it

“The hills are alive with the sound of music
With songs they have sung for a thousand years
The hills fill my heart with the sound of music
My heart wants to sing every song it hears.”
Ask a little 10-year-old at an American summer camp: What is Austria? And the kid will answer: Oh, Austria! The Sound of music! I guess every American knows the Sound of Music, a musical based on the German movie “The Trapp family” and the true story of Maria Augusta von Trapp. Foreign people are amazed by the gigantic Austrian beauty, the mountains, the atmosphere shown in the movie. Too bad that the biggest part of Austrians does not even know the movie…
Well, Austria still has the locations though. The villa, which was used as the front side of Von Trapp’s house, for example, has been used for different scenes as you can see in the following trailer. Once been there, you will feel back to the 60s when the movie has been produced. The view, the nature, the romantic building. You would not even be surprised if Fräulein Maria would step out of the front door of the house with her smile and positive attitude.
Nevertheless, she is unlikely to walk out there (regardlessly that actress Julie Andrews lives in Los Angeles and in Switzerland but in Austria), cause the villa has been converted to a private hotel. It is still beautiful though: Romantic decorated halls, private suites, a luxurious dining room, a library with secret passages and – above all – an amazing view.
You should probably work on becoming a rich business man to afford a private suite. Or you expand your abilities as a cleaner – the one I’ve been talking to has already been working in the villa for like six years.
Watch from minute 2:30 to see the house.
